Nike Air Max 1 (or Air Max 87) is the first shoe of the legendary Nike "Air Max" line. The most innovative and visually striking feature is its visible air cushioning units, which would become a staple in Nike's design. The original Air Max 1, which was released in 1987, featured nylon mesh and synthetic suede, but since then, Nike has re-released these almost every year in countless colorways and materials. Models based on or inspired by the Air Max 1, such as the Nike Air Maxim 1, are also popular.
